Hi, Denny
I saw your introduction and thought I'd say hi. I'm BriAnna DeBarbarak. I'm in my late 20's, with two kids, and I live in New York.
It's nice to have you on the boards.

Hey BriAnna, How's life with kids? That looks like an adventure best left to the professionals if it's anything like what I see at the grocery store. You seem put together though so I bet yours aren't whiney brats, huh?
And New York! I went there once on a field trip with the band in my highschool, I know, how embarrasing, I used to play the trumpet. Anyways, we went to this symphony hall and it was pretty fun. Is living there a blast? I'm not even getting into your job, I'll just get jealous.
Sorry it took so long, I'll try and reply faster next time! Nice to meet you, Denny

Terribly sorry I didn't reply sooner! It's good to hear from you, Denny.
Life with kids is very, very hectic! It's not usually this bad, but my daughter has a major end-of-the-year project for school due tomorrow (just finished it today!), my son had an (association) football game, and I'm going through adoption proceedings for a little girl in Japan... life is terribly hectic, but I thrive on the energy. Until, that is, I run out of it and collapse at the end of the day.
A fellow former band-geek. I played the clarinet my first year of high-school, but quit to spend my time behind the building in a cloud of smoke with my friends. Ah, high-school.
It's a blast living here. I've lived her since my daughter was a toddler (she's 14 now), and I absolutely adore it.
So, what is it that you do for a living?

Oh, no worries! I'm just glad you did reply
You must be addicted to your kids then! It sounds like you have a killer schedule on your hands. Adopting a kid? Now you're just asking for it . You must be crazy for your kids then, huh? Being so caring to adopt a child as your own and all that is so amazing, I think. If that doesn't sound too weird.
I think Chicago's all the city I'll ever need but New York is definately still on my dream vacations list.
My job? I dropped out of college last year and now I work at Kinko's and I cook at a small Italian restaurant. Nothing too exciting to speak of, sadly. I think you said you were a travel show hostess or somethign to that effect, that true?
Hopefully we catch eachother soon, eh? Denny

That's a good way to put it, addicted to my kids. Yeah, I guess I am. They're hellions at times, but they're my life.
So, how do you like it in Chicago?
Do you enjoy cooking? My older brother Steven started a chain of Italian restaurants and he ADORES it. He's always in the kitchen.
And yeah, I used to host a travel show. Funding ran out, and now career wise I'm concentrating on finishing my fourth novel.

Love Chicago, beautiful city and all, I just hate getting my bills or finding out we have to go to the grocery store (and not only because of the dysfunctional families:)) It's totally breaking my back account living here but my girlfriend Eliza got an incredible scholarship at the Institue of Art here.
Cooking's okay but I'd much rather own a chain then work in one:D. Siblings then, huh? Your family seems super successful, is it in the blood? If so, I desperately need a blood transfusion, stat.
Novelist/supermom, how do you have the time to write?! Better yet, how do you have time to write and waste your time talking to me?

Oh, that's great! What is she studying?
LOL! Yeah, I've got two brothers (Ste and Elijah) and three sisters (Annamarie, Sydney, Keagan). We're a big ole' group. As for being successful, Ste is definitely the epitome of it in my family. Great job, beautiful wife, little son and another baby on the way!
This isn't a waste! It's a welcome break from the insanely hectic schedule! Sorry I haven't replied for so long... my best friend Kelsey is in town, and I'm planning on leaving for Japan on Monday, I've just submitted the first chapter of the new book to the editors (and received it back, so covered in red ink you can't read any of the original writing).... it's been terribly busy around here lately, but hopefully I'll be able to come online and chat more often!
So, Denny, what have you been up to lately?

Oh, she's going for a bachelor of fine arts with "emphasis in art history and criticisim" or something like that. I really don't do the whole art thing, out of my realm, I'm afraid.
Wow, you have a huge family. Six kids? I thought my family had to fight for food, your family dinners must've rivaled WWII.
Again! You tell me about your excitingly hectic life! I have to say, I'm living vicariously through you so I'd better write you back more often.
With me? Not much really, I'm finally getting promoted at the copy hut. Oh, occasions of the simple, it is to laugh.
Oh, there was one thing I wanted to ask a girl though, if you wouldn't mind. My girlfriend's been sneaking around the apartment and reminding me over and over that "it's ALREADY May". So, what'd you think? Worst Boyfriend Ever award going to be presented to yours truly?
What about you? How's the adoption going? Smoothly?
Well, this is getting long so I'm going to leave it at that. Denny

Not so much fight for it, rather rip it out of my brother Ste's hands on his second chorus of "Feel Like A Woman".... ahem... long story....
Congratulations on your promotion! That's lovely. How long have you been working there?
Hmm, "Already May", huh? Well, if she were a mother I'd say that's a not-so-subtle hint about Mother's Day. But I reckon not? Well, women love Spring weddings... perhaps not that either? I dunno, Mayday? Cinco De Mayo? Memorial Day? The anniversary of the first patented ice-cream freezer?
And I don't think you can get that award... it's already been given out, to my ex Aaron.
*sigh* The adoption is going alright. I've only just met with the overseas attorney, who'll be handling things here in Japan for me. I had hoped to be surrounded by children by now! As I told Kelsey, I hope to come home with a whole futbol team!

God I haven't been here in nearly a month, I'm so sorry.
It turns out it was our fourth anniversary or something. Needless to say I slept on the couch. Oh, and funny enough, the fourth anniversary traditional gift is an electrical appliance. Maybe I'm the only one in the world who would think about you saying "first ice-cream freezer" and tradtion being even mildy humorous.
I'm glad I didn't get the award but I'm sorry to hear that you had to endure the World's Worst:(
Your new kid must be thirty now, jeez, hahaha. Not really, how's that whole thing going now? Narrowed it down? Have a kiddo? I've never really been around an adoption story. It must be exciting.
Sorry it took a year, Denny
